Future Olympian?

April 17, 2015

Warrensburg, IL  --   I'm very fortunate to be surrounded every day by outstanding high school and college athletes.  The level that they compete and perform is so much more advanced than when I was in  school.  Being their team photographer is a great honor and whole lot of fun.

Every so often, one athlete will step on the stage and go immediately to the top.  KD Young from Warrensburg-Latham High School is one of those special athletes.  As a freshman last year, KD took 1st Place in both the Disc and Shot Putt in the IHSA 1A State Championship in Charleston, IL.  She also took 1st place in the Junior Nationals last July in the Shot Putt.

So, how far does she throw?  How about 50 feet in the Shot Putt and 150' in the Disc.  All from a young lady who isn't even old enough to have a drivers license.  Top NCAA Division 1 schools already have her on their radars and something tells me that KD Young will have an opportunity to perform on an international stage at some point in her career.

She's a great athlete, a great student, very humble, and someone that draws crowds around her when she throws (even the guys who throw the shot and disc).
