What's Special about Special Olympics?

Decatur, IL -- The Millikin University Baseball Team had the folks from Special Olympics out for an afternoon of "Skills & Drills" at the Griswold Center on April 17, 2013.  I love being involved in these events because I learn so much from these athletes...mostly about myself.

Millikin's relationship with Special Olympics isn't a simple outreach program.  All of these athletes are members of the Big Blue Family.  They come to our sporting events, have their own cheering section, and mix it up with Millikin athletes, coaches, and students.

I am now convinced that what's "Special" no longer refers to these athletes disabilities.  What's Special, is what they have to share with us that will make all of us better people.  Don't believe me?  Volunteer to help with one of their events and see if you don't walk away a better person.
