20130616-0266 I've had the pleasure of being the event photographer for the LPGA Symetra Tournament in Decatur for the past three years. The Decatur Forsyth Classic is in its 29 year and is the longest running tournament on the Symetra LPGA tour.
The tour is packed full of talented golfers from around the world all of whom are trying to earn their way onto the LPGA. This year's winner, Sue Kim from Canada, was -1 after the second round (8 shots behind the leader) and won the tournament in sudden death at 10 under. I also had the opportunity to witness a hole-in-one shot by Jenna Pearson from Elmhurst, Illinois.
Cindy Deadrick-Wolfer, President & Director of the tournament, is one of the hardest working individuals on the face of the planet. I think her team of volunteers and support staff (who work just as hard) would agree that she is the main reason the tournament is not only the longest running tournament on the tour but also the BEST! She is a true leader in our community and inspires everyone around her to go the extra mile.
Finally, I had the pleasure of meeting a very special person this year. His name is Ben Witter from Lebanon, Pennsylvania. Ben is a trick shot artist and a technical master of the golf swing. But more than that, he has a message that will inspire all of us and I encourage you to visit his web site at www.benspowergolf.com He is a cancer survivor and used his fight to as a means to overcome all of life's challenges. You'll become a better person just by reading his story.
